Tiny Treepod Geodesic Dome Near Boone, NC

Published: April 7, 2023 | Boone, North Carolina

When staying in the Blue Ridge Mountains you have a lot of options. This was our first time staying in a geodesic dome and it did not disappoint! You can tell when you pull up to this property that you are in for a special stay. The massive deck that the dome house is placed on is impressive and once you get up close with feet on the ground, you see just how special this place is.

Halfway up the staircase to the house you will come to a landing that houses two swinging chairs and propane fire table. These chairs were so comfortable and in the evening, with the fire table lit, it was just the most enjoyable space to unwind and talk about the day.

When you first step onto the dome’s deck look to the left – that is your hot tub! Yes, a mountain getaway is not complete without a hot tub and this one is spacious, clean, and the perfect way to wind down each night.

To the right at the top of the stairs you will see another fire table with some seating. This overlooks the driveway and straight out into the trees that surround the entire property. Again, this is another peaceful spot to unwind in the evening. Am I sensing a pattern?

This property is definitely perfect if you want to spend the day hiking or exploring many of the nearby mountain towns. After an exhausting day out and about you have so many relaxing options when you get home that evening.

The treepod dome itself is honestly one of my favorite spaces we’ve stayed. It is unexpectedly spacious with tall ceilings and plenty of space to walk around the furniture. The queen sized bed was very comfortable and once the temperatures got a little too cool outside I was still able to sit in the love seat that looked out the expansive window on the front side of the dome. I was in the comfort of the heated dome, but still felt like I was outside under the stars.

When we first booked this rental my biggest concern was that the bathroom was in a separate structure, meaning I would have to go outside in the middle of the night if necessary. That was honestly a silly concern because the bathroom door was literally right outside the door to the dome and let’s face it – the bathroom was beautiful!

Decor We Loved

The bathroom was large! It had standard indoor plumbing so the shower water pressure was great, the toilet flushed like a standard toilet, and the hot water was plentiful. I’m not even exaggerating when I tell you the bathroom may have been my favorite part of this short-term rental.

The treepod dome is approximately a ten minute drive to the nearby town of West Jefferson, NC. There you have access to grocery stores, fast food, great local restaurants, and a historic downtown area with plenty of shopping. You are also about twenty minutes to the college town of Boone, NC.
