Outer Banks Octagon House with Shipwreck Views

Published: May 22, 2023 | North Carolina, Outer Banks

If you are looking to bring your extended family or a large group of friends on a week of vacation to the Outer Banks in NC, this home is a great rental option. It sleeps 10-12 and is literally steps from the ocean. It is nestled in a quiet neighborhood just off of the main drag and is close to public beach pull-off areas and nearby dining and recreation options.

One of the most unique features of this home is the top floor bird’s nest that provides views of the ocean and a 100 year old shipwreck that is just steps from the shore. The shipwreck is really neat and if the water is tame enough you can get an up-close look yourself just by walking out into the water.

The outdoor living spaces at this house are perfection, especially if you aren’t particularly fond of the sand and salt water, but still want some sun or beach breeze. The second floor deck hammock and swinging rope chairs were my favorite spot to spend time while here. I could enjoy the salt air without the risk of sunburn.

Decor We Loved

One of my favorite spaces in this home was actually the window bench seat in the main living room. The host provided some binoculars and you can sit there and look out at the dunes. It was just so peaceful. The amount of sunlight in this space was really energizing and it was a nice way to enjoy some vitamin D without the risk of sunburn.

There is an outdoor shower on the side of the house which is perfect for washing off all the sand after a trip out to the beach. And something I’ve never seen at a house before, an outdoor elevator for those who cannot climb the 40+ stairs to get to the main living floor of the house.
