Hip Scandi Tiny Cabin & Airstream in Asheville, NC

Published: April 7, 2023 | Asheville, North Carolina

Asheville, NC is a mecca for East Coast mountain lovers. It is close to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park entrance and is deep in the heart of the Appalachian mountain range. We traveled here during an early Spring cold snap in which the trees hadn’t yet blossomed, but it was still a beautiful weekend escape.

When we were researching a place to stay in Asheville we were immediately drawn to the visual appeal of ModCabins Scandinavian style. The simple lines, basic design elements, and excessive outdoor living space – not to mention that bold, red, outdoor fireplace!

The cabin itself has tall ceilings, giving you the impression that it is much larger than it actually is. All of the rooms and living spaces are just large enough to be comfortable – not too small and no wasted space. We even had just enough room to fit a Pack ‘n’ Play in the bedroom during our stay.

One of the most unique offerings I have ever seen in a cabin rental is the addition of the antique Airstream. This is a way for the host to provide a second “bedroom” in the otherwise small, one-bedroom cabin.

If you ask me, this is a perfect warm weather rental due to the outdoor offerings. The cabin is situated along a babbling creek bed that was flowing in full-force during our stay. Just outside the front door of the cabin is the covered deck that hosts a full-sized dining table with bench seating, and an outdoor sofa that looks out on the glossy, red, Scandinavian-style fireplace.

Decor We Loved

Beyond the covered deck the host provided a hammock strung up between two trees, an outdoor picnic table, a fire pit with adirondack chairs, AND a large, private hot tub! It really was a relaxing escape and just a short 10-15 minute drive into the heart of Asheville.

If you’re planning a trip to visit the Biltmore Estate or Great Smoky Mountains National Park for some hiking and waterfall chasing, I highly suggest looking into this short-term rental. If this particular cabin is unavailable, there are two other similar cabins located on the same property.
